I am the Mission Pastor at Ashland Avenue Baptist Church in Lexington Kentucky. I have serve this wonderful church for 10 years. In June of 2012 my family and I moved to Richmond Kentucky to serve Ashland in Madison County, a campus of Ashland.
My wife, Danae, is the most sacrificial person I know. She has taught me more about Jesus than any other person. Together we have 6 kids. Titus, Nathan, Isaac, Anna, Charis, and Jonah.
Being from Tennessee I am a loyal Volunteer fan. Have always cheered for the Dallas Cowboys. Either watch or listen to every Atlanta Braves game throughout the 162 MLB season. If I’m not coaching or watching my boys play baseball, football, or basketball, we are fishing or doing something outside.
Adoption is the gospel. The reality that God makes those who were once abandoned strangers in the world sons and heirs to His eternal inheritance is the most glorious truth in the world. This cosmic reality is mirrored in the world when families pursue children who were at one time fatherless, giving them full rights and privileges to their family.
My desire is to use this site to tell my family ‘s adoption story. In hearing our story, I pray you would begin to embrace and tell your own adoption story in Christ. I also pray that you would begin to aggressively assist in the care and rescue of orphans around the world who desperately need a story of their own.
The Great Commission is fulfilled through planting churches. For the last 10 years, God has allowed me the privilege of leading a church that is passionate about making disciples among all nations through the establishing of local churches. Currently Ashland is involved in planting a church in the Andes Mountains of Peru. We have recently launched a Campus in Richmond KY with the goal of establishing an autonomous local church in Madison County. Ashland also supports missionaries around the world who are leading church planting efforts in Louisiana, Peru, Brazil, and China.
As I have been involved and leading and overseeing these efforts, God has given me a passion to see our church become more effective at fulfilling the Great Commission. He has also given me a desire to see other church leaders committed to church planting through their local churches. Hopefully, in reflecting upon our experiences, successes and mistakes other will benefit.
For 15 years, I have been able to serve with one of the best preachers in the world, Dr. David Prince. Dr. Prince has given his life over to expositional preaching in the context of the local church. I have greatly benefited not only from his preaching but also his intentional discipleship of my own preaching. From time to time I will post a sermon or thoughts about preaching that I hope will encourage or guide our thoughts about preaching.
